Meet Mr. LoweI am one of the middle school teachers at St. Michael Catholic School. I attended Grand Valley State University for my degree in secondary education with a major in Social Studies. I taught at Sylvan Learning Centers in Lansing for two years, before joining St. Michael eleven years ago. I have taught middle school social studies and language arts for those eleven years and have been teaching fifth grade social studies for the past four years and for a total of five years. I love teaching here because the school creates an amazing family atmosphere. We, as a staff, are able to get to know the students as people, not just students. We can use this opportunity to build our students as people, not just students.
I live in Portland with my wife, Beth, and our four boys, Ian (8), Spencer (6), Lucas (5), and Declan (2). We are parishioners at St. Patrick in Portland, where my oldest three also attend school. I am a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2168; where I served as Grand Knight and in several other capacities for my council.
Since starting at St. Michael, I have been able to grow greatly in my Faith. I love that I am able to share my Faith with my students here as well. We can learn so much from each other in doing that.
In my spare time, I enjoy woodworking, reading, playing with my boys, playing board games, and being outside.
